This Season’s Shoe Trends – Playful But Practical

Many adults believe that children can form strong emotional connections to fairy tales. Cinderella was the one for me. This unfortunate young lady had to leave quickly. The mice and rats in her home were her only companions. She gets all dolled up and ready to go to the best party in town, only to forget her fantastic shoes (borrowed, no less) at home after wearing them only once! I can only imagine the severity of her emotional hangover, but I felt the same sense of relief when I got them back that she did. (On a side note: do children’s stories lack the concept of shoe sizes?) This experience taught me the importance of investing in a good pair of shoes. And a shoe made of glass? (How stylish is that!) Here are the season’s shoe trends!

It goes without saying that I became a shoe girl after that. My father often scoffed and asked, “Do you really need that many shoes?” before every family vacation. We’ll be gone for only a week, to which my mother and I would always reply, “Precisely!” Much can change in the course of a week. But what if we didn’t bring the correct shoes? It was impractical and felt ridiculous.

That’s essentially progressed since then. While I do occasionally miss the thrill of a sky-high heel, I now prioritize comfort and practicality. I’m all for buying shoes that look good, but the ones I’ve listed below also need to be comfortable.
