Outfits That Look Good With Neckties – What To Wear

As fashion trends come and go, neckties continue to be a timeless accessory for any formal outfit. Choosing the right necktie can make or break an outfit, but with the right guidance, you can easily find outfits that look good with neckties.

If you’re going to wear a tie with a pattern, it’s important to make sure that the colors in the tie don’t clash with each other (see above for how to achieve this) and that the pattern of the tie doesn’t clash with the pattern of your shirt or suit. Listed below are some of our favorite necktie-friendly ensembles.

The dress shirt is the first item to check for compatibility with your tie, as it is second only to the jacket in terms of importance when deciding on a tie’s color and pattern. Your shirt, however, remains on throughout the day, in contrast to the jacket, which you may remove at midday. As the dress shirt is the only layer between the tie and the skin in the absence of a jacket, any unintentional clashes in color will be immediately apparent. It’s imperative that you get this correctly!

By default, most color combinations of ties look good with dark solid colored suits, notably grey and navy blue. Most tie designers create their products with the expectation that they will be worn with white shirts, making them the simplest to match; after you’ve found the perfect tie to go with your white shirt, a suit in either grey or blue will complete the look.

Blazers are like suits in that they need more formal ties. Stripe or club ties are often worn with blazers. On the other hand, sport jackets are usually more casual, and depending on the tone of the fabric, they can be worn with a wool-patterned necktie, a silk foulard, or a paisley. Consider wearing silk ties with jackets with a rough weave and knitted neckwear with sport jackets that need a more casual look. In both cases, the wearer should pay attention to the rules of matching that were already mentioned.
